After being obsessed with British music, TV series and The Queen, LaVonna and I finally fulfilled our lifelong dream of just hanging ’round England together. I took advantage of a puente (long weekend,) we had at my school and flew to Newcastle upon Tyne where LaV is studying linguistics. We nerded out over accents, grad classes and Harry Potter while eating chip butties and drinking pots and pots of tea. We took a few day trips to nearby cities including Durham where we saw Durham Cathedral, the site of several scenes from the Harry Potter series, and Whitley Bay, where we visited St. Mary’s Island, a local nature reserve with a lighthouse. We’re planning an extended trip to LaV’s bit of the world come spring, and I am a welllll excited.
